One of the main challenges of this project was the adoption of mobile technology by users to carry out the operations that they had been carrying out for some time in a branch of the savings bank in person. 

With the passage of time, the downloads of the application increased and to this day the use of the application is more visible.

Another challenge was being able to send push notifications through AWS technologies for the different Android, iOS and Huawei devices. It was also a challenge, being able to choose only some users who receive a notification. After this, a notification module was developed to display, in addition to these, the notices and bulletins that the organization shares with its users through the portal.

The Savings Bank is a non-profit social organization that provides immediate savings and loan services, with high financial advantages, minimum costs, for the benefit of workers, retirees and pensioners of the Mexican Institute of Social Security. 

The operational activities of the users of the savings account in relation to their balance inquiries, requests for partial or fortnightly withdrawals, consultation of account statements, among others, were carried out in person at the delegations of the different geographical locations of the Republic. Mexican. 

For 3 years, Codster has been the provider of development, maintenance and support of the mobile platform for around 400,000 savers of the Social Security Workers Union, for which a native mobile platform for iOS and Android has been implemented that It allows carrying out the operations that the users of the savings bank carried out in the branches.

Currently it is possible from the application to manage different functions such as: 

  1. Balance inquiry
  2. loan application 
  3. Execution of withdrawals
  4. Download account statements
  5. Direct and personalized communication

Project Objectives

The objective of the SNTSS Pension and Savings Fund is for all its users to use mobile applications to carry out operations, in order to avoid saturating delegations with long queues, as well as speed up procedures and so that users can have a status of their operations carried out through the same application. 

Through the application you can also review the monthly savings rates, consult frequently asked questions and view bulletins, notices or notifications that the savings bank publishes for its different types of users. 

Additionally, it seeks to be able to digitize through this mobile platform the processes that are currently carried out in the branch, and that require confirmation that it is the person who is carrying out the operation.

Technologies Implemented in the project

With the implementation and use of mobile technologies, the SNTSS Pension and Savings Fund adopted the use of different tools, within the technologies used to implement the application are:

  •  AWS, JavaEE
  • Android (Java)
  •  iOS (xCode)
  • Informix for managing databases in relation to the operations carried out from the application, 
  • Elastic Beanstalk for using variables and software configurations

Additional technological elements are incorporated to maintain the security of the information, such as:

  • Web Application Firewalls (WAFs)
  • Firewalls, VPNs, security certificates among others

The use of Veracode to perform code quality and security scans of applications.

Advantages and benefits of the Project

Today users of the SNTSS Pension and Savings Fund can carry out various operations from the comfort of their home through the mobile application, they can also receive push notifications and see notices as well as newsletters published by the Pension Fund. Savings.

On the part of the savings bank, they can have control of their processes and record operations from their internal processes, through them they interact with users allowing them to carry out their operations. There is better control of the exact times of the operations records in the database, as well as obtaining statistical data on the use of the application, such as the total number of users, users by mobile platform, location, most consulted modules, among others.

At the beginning of each year, the Savings Bank shares their account statements with users. Starting in 2021, this module was implemented in the mobile application, so that they can consult, download and share your account statements without having to go in person to the corresponding branch.

Over time, new modules and functionalities were added looking for have a complete and functional application to the 100% for the different types of operations.

Initial development covers an app for iOS and Android devices, with the passage of time and technological updates was also implemented in the App Gallery for availability on Huawei devices.

  • 4,000 Trades per day for partial withdrawals

The application meets the initial objective of the project, Codster in conjunction with the Caja of Forecast and Savings of the SNTSS provides support and maintenance to it to provide a better service to users.

Every day new users are registered in the SNTSS Social Security and Savings Fund and when they go to a delegation, their data is taken and an access code is sent to their mobile device to use the application. That is, it is a standardized process as part of the user's registration activities, through this code the user is allowed to create a personal password, which gives him the security that his data is protected.

Once this process has been carried out, the basic operations can be carried out by the user from the application, without having to go to a delegation. Having the main benefit of avoiding long lines of users waiting to be served, in addition to the manual work that has to be done to register the operations.
